Good idea Phil I can see the Pilot Car Net is not far off. Can you imagine working other pilot cars all over the country on say 20 meters.

Sounds good to me. We will have to find a spot on 20, 40, 80 and maybe 17 meters to have nets.
then if all the hams run APRS than we will know when we are coming up on each other. Or give a chance in the evenings to meet each other.

Hi Phil Right now between rigs my icom just gave up the ghost.

Well I ran only 2 meters for two years before I started to pick up other radio's.
I have 2 HF rigs 3 VHF only rigs 1 duel bander
1) FT 857D ham only
2) DX 70T Ham and ARMY MARS
3) DR 235 220 rig
4) DR 135TA 2 meter Army MARS
5) FT1500 146.52 and ISS
6)D-700A vhf/yhf on one side APRS on the other side. The gps is down for the moment. But I still watch APRS.
I'm looking to replace the DX70. Not sure what I'll pick up to replace it.
I'm also looking into 900mhz and 1.2 gig stuff.
My thought is I spend more time on the road. So I want a few toys to ride with me.
I only work APRS and 146.52 when working.

HI Jack, Welcome to the ham side. John and I are going to look at 20 and 40 meters to find a place that we can hold a net.

Hi Phil
My name is Tony. My wife, Rhonda and I have Guardian Piloting Service in WA. We're interested in adding Ham units to our rigs. However, we have next to no knowledge. We would appreciate any guidance.

A website for you to look at www.arrl.org. that is a good place to start.

Because they have dropped all code for hams it help new people to get a higher class license.

I got my tech in Sept of 2000. And just before the dropped the code I got my general. It has been a lot of fun for me. If you look at the picture of my truck you will see some of the antennas. going wild like I have is not what you have to do. When I started all I ran was a 2 meter rig. and had tons of fun with that.
